Parent Info
This is a really fun day for the students of Oak Street School. Field Day is an organized day of games and activities for all of the students. The school is divided into two groups by grade: K-2 and 3-5.
We will kick off the day with an opening ceremony parade. The K-2 students will then have an opportunity for blacktop games and head to the assembly. The 3-5 students will go down to the lower field for field games. Field games include activities such as relays, tag, etc., which last for approximately two hours.
Both groups will break for lunch and then switch as the 3-5 students will have the assembly and the K-2 students will go to the lower field for their field games. After their assembly, the 3-5 students will go out to the blacktop for the fire truck (see below).
Normal school drop off and pick up hours apply.

REMINDERS AND REQUESTS
- Water: Every student should bring in a LABELED water bottle for Field Day. Please make sure your label is clear; the students will drop their water bottles in a basket at each field game station and will have to find their water bottles to carry to the next station. Refills will be available at water stations set up on the lower field.
- T-Shirts: There will be “Shirt Signing” throughout the day. Students autograph each other’s shirts with colored PERMANENT markers. If you did not purchase an OSS Field Day t-shirt, a cheap white t-shirt is advised. T-shirts can be purchased for students and adult volunteers HERE through Friday, April 10th at 11:59pm.
***We strongly encourage girls to wear a cami or undershirt under their white t-shirts, as there are a few water based activities.*** - Fire Truck: Fan favorite! The Basking Ridge Fire Department is once again coming to OSS to provide a shower for students in grades 3-5 in the afternoon. This is completely optional for the older students. Please reinforce with your child that shoes and shirts must be kept on at all times. If your child chooses to get showered you may want to pack a change of clothing and a beach towel. The kids LOVE it, but definitely get wet.
***For safety reasons, kids will be required to wear sneakers or water-shoes (no flip-flops) for the firetruck. You may want to pack extra shoes.*** - Sunscreen: We are hoping for a sunny day so PLEASE remember to lather your kids with SPF before they leave for school in the morning.
- Weather: The rain date for Field Day is Monday, June 8th . The school administration will notify you if this event will be rescheduled.
